Experience the thrills of white water rafting on the Colorado River through the last 53 miles of Grand Canyon on your choice of a three or four day trip! After meeting in Flagstaff at 6am for a quick breakfast and discussion about gear, safety and expectations we’ll drive west toward the river. A few hours later we arrive on the shores of the mighty Colorado River where your river crew will be ready and waiting to launch on your wilderness expedition! Take your pick from a relaxed and exciting ride aboard one of our oar boats to a more engaging and thrilling seat paddling alongside your friends and family in a paddle boat! As we make our way through the canyon keep your eyes open for wildlife and all of the amazing views that come with the unique geological features you’re traveling through. Along the way, your guides will be happy to share stories and knowledge of the natural, geologic and human history that runs deep within the canyon walls. Throughout your time spent on the water you’ll make many stops to experience waterfalls, caves, side canyons and interesting historic locations. At the end of each day, sit back and relax on the beach as your guides prepare dinner and share more exciting stories and interesting facts about the area. If all goes well, and weather permitting, sleep under the stars and let the rumble of the river lull you to sleep. Each morning will start with a coffee call and breakfast prepared by your guides, and after a short talk about the plan for the day we’ll push off into the current for more excitement and scenery! Once we’ve passed all of the major rapids, for our final day on the water, we’ll tie all of the boats together and spend a day spread out and relaxing as we motor through the flat waters at the upper reaches of the Lake Mead Recreation Area. After a final night on shore sharing memories and stories with your new river family, we’ll have our last breakfast on the river and push off to meet our vehicles at the Pearce Ferry Boat Ramp. From here, we load everything onto the trucks and head back to Fort Tuthill! This trip can be extremely exciting and rewarding but does require some levels of physical exertion. In addition, we’ll be on the water in a very remote wilderness setting with little to no contact with the outside world for the duration of the trip. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please feel free to reach out to the OAP staff and Fort Tuthill and we’ll be happy to help! See you on the river!
