Meet at Fort Tuthill in Flagstaff for a quick breakfast and drive east for about an hour to C.C. Cragin Reservoir, better known as Blue Ridge Reservoir. This body of water rests on top of the Mogollon Rim amidst the largest contiguous Ponderosa Pine forest in the world. You’ll spend a day within the two canyons dammed to create this reservoir beneath the towering pines. From the boat launch you can decide to head toward and beyond C.C. Cragin Dam, or paddle West up one of the canyons to explore the pine forest and the lake at your leisure. After exploring, swimming, and finding a nice place for lunch you’ll turn around and paddle back to the boat launch to return to flagstaff with photos and memories of one of the more beautiful bodies of water in Arizona.
